Kerikeri man Andrew Bell will be farewelled at the Turner Centre on Monday.

Kerikeri man Andrew Bell will be farewelled at the Turner Centre on Monday.

Friends and family of the Kerikeri man who died in a crash in Moerewa last month will gather at the Turner Centre on Monday to celebrate his life.

Andrew Bell, 54, was driving a gardening centre truck on State Highway 1 at 2.40am on February 21 when it was involved in a collision with a late model Mercedes-Benz coming out of Moerewa's Nisbet St.

Mr Bell died at the scene. His two passengers, understood to be his wife and his 19-year-old daughter, had to be cut from the wreckage and were taken to Whangarei Hospital, one in a serious condition.

The Mercedes continued through a fence and came to rest against a corner home's doorstep. The 19-year-old driver was taken to Bay of Islands Hospital. The police investigation is ongoing.

Mr Bell was well-regarded and well-known in the Kerikeri community as the owner of Planet Green native plant nursery on Puketotara Rd. The nursery is currently closed.
