Tickets this year are $12, with under-fives admitted free, and the entry price includes an Indian meal.
Tickets can be purchased (cash only) from Shiraz Indian restaurant, in Walton Street, or at 571 Kamo Road, Whangarei.
NorthTec is one of the sponsors of this event, and organisers expect to see a number of Indian students attending and celebrating. They are also hoping to see locals of any culture joining in the fun.
Diwali is an ancient festival celebrated in autumn in the northern hemisphere or spring in the southern hemisphere.
The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness or good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.
Celebration includes millions of lights shining around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed.
