The strength of the local Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs stable was emphasized again on Saturday with a total of five winners with another new potential star arriving in the three-year-old filly Madeira.

All Roads also caught the eye as he made light of a 60 kilogram impost to score a convincing victory in rating 75 company to round out the day's proceedings.

It was a win that has Logan thinking it may be time to step the five-year-old up to better company in the coming weeks.

"He has just thrived since he has been with us and just kept on improving," she enthused.

"He had to carry a big weight but handled it really well. I think what impressed me most was just how he attacked the line in the closing stages.

"It was also a very good ride by Kelly (McCulloch) who seems to really click with him.

"That win has me thinking that he has the ability to step up again so once I get home I'm going to sit down and see what there is coming up for him.

"I also think he can get further than a mile so something over a middle distance will definitely be an option."

By Ekraar, a stallion that the stable has had considerable success with their progeny, the
young filly won impressively at her first start in the Telfer Young (Northland) Maiden.

The five winners no doubt gave the stable a great deal of satisfaction as there has been considerable angst from other stables about the strength of the stable, their dominance at Ruakaka and even down to the belief that their saddling from their own barns gave them a distinct advantage.

Recently, the RIU stewards had imposed a re-location order for the saddling of their horses on raceday and the Club undertook some renovation work to facilitate a change.

On Saturday the Logan/Gibbs runners were saddled in that new, completely independent barn away from their own stables with a similar result - another bag of winners.

Meanwhile, Lord and Master were rewarded for its consistent performances throughout the winter season with a win in the Craig Cogan Builder Bream Bay Cup.

Lord and Master has been most productive in his seven starts since starting this winter campaign with seven starts for three wins, of which two have now been at Ruakaka.

Owned by Auckland residents John and Victoria Carter who were not on-course to accept the trophy presentation, preferring no doubt to bet at Caulfield to watch Rising Romance run a very gallant second in the prestigious Memsie Stakes.

Rising Romance has a strong Ruakaka connection as she was trained locally by Donna Logan until last winter when the mare was transferred to a Victorian stable.

A winner of over $2 million in prize money Rising Romance is yet to win since the transfer but Saturday's run showed she is on track for a spring that may see her form return to her best.
