Police have charged a 73-year-old man with the murder of Hōreke man Daniel Hepehi.
Hepehi, also known as Danny Whiston, was found with critical injuries at a Waikerikeri Rd property on May 22.
The 77-year-old died at the scene despite medical attention.
Theaccused will appear in the Kaikohe District Court today via video link.
Detective Inspector Rhys Johnston of Northland Criminal Investigation Branch said police were not seeking anyone else in connection with the alleged homicide.
“Police have made a number of appeals for information during this investigation and we would like to thank those members of the public for their support.”
Johnston said police were continuing with their inquiries and were pleased with the progress so far.
A team of 15 investigators were working on the inquiry into Hepehi’s death.
Support was also offered from other police districts and ESR scientists.
Police were unable to comment further given the matter was before the court.
