Congratulations to Ann Muir who has won the Bowls NZ Coach of the Year award for 2016. Ann Has been very active with the NZ Blind Bowls representative team as a coach and player-director as well as coach of the Northland women's representative team and a coach-trainer appointed by Bowls NZ.

Congratulations to the following players who have been selected in the Northland Men's 1-5 Year representative squad for 2016-17.

The players are: Bruce Hathaway, Graham Leonard (Mangawhai); Roy Taylor, Jeff O'Neil, (Kensington); Ken Rozell, Michael Lee (Mt Manaia); Mike Curran, Dave Smith, Ed O'Donnell, John Cooper (Kamo).

Their first event for the season will be at Mangawhai on Sunday, October 2 when Northland take on North Harbour, Auckland and Far North in an annual event.

The Centre pennants were completed last weekend in difficult playing conditions. This event is played as club selected teams and 36 teams took part.

The winners were: Men: 1st: Whangarei No 1, 2nd Mangawhai Mantarays, 3rd Whangarei No 2; 4th Hikurangi.

Women: 1st Hikurangi, 2nd Kensington Bluem 3rd Kensington Maroon, 4th One Tree Point No 2.

Congratulations to all.

Have a Go at Bowls is still in full swing and Kamo Bowling Club will have their event this Saturday from 1pm to 3.30pm. Bowls are available, please come with flat-soled shoes or bare feet are acceptable.

Have a Go day is free to all the family.

The next events will be at Kensington on Sunday, October 9 at 11am; Waipu on Saturday, October 15 at 10am; Onerahi on Saturday, November 1 at 10am, One Tree Pt on Sunday, November 13 at 10am.
