Over the years the name Going has been linked with some of the country's best rugby players - now add modelling to that list.
Maromaku's Alexandria Going, 16, has won the 2004 Top New Model of New Zealand competition in Auckland.
The Kamo High School student beat several contestants from around country
and did it without any family present for support after her dad Adrian was rushed into hospital last week.
Her father - the nephew of rugby legend Sid Going - was out of hospital early this week but the illness had meant Alexandria took on the task of the competition alone.
"All the other girls had their parents with them so it was a little bit hard at first, but once I decided to just get into it and go for it, it was okay."
The win on Saturday night was a genuine shock.
"I was so worried about my Dad ... I was kind of thinking `It would be nice if it happened but there are so many gorgeous girls here', and then the guy read my name out."
Her prizes include a trip to Rarotonga, and chance to model with top 62 Model and Talent Agency.
Her dad was a tough rugby player who played for Northland - so what does he think of his eldest daughter's foray into modelling?
"He thinks it's great, as long as I keep a strong head on my shoulders and keep my standards."
The future may not necessarily feature modelling as a full-time career - Alexandria's first priority is the seventh form at Kamo High next year before studying toward qualifications that will get her into a career as a personal trainer.
"I have thought about it (full-time modelling) but it's something you can't just say `I want to do modelling full-time and make it a profession' because it's quite a hard industry, you can't just pick and choose."
Short term, delayed celebrations are planned with her Dad, her Mum Esther and siblings Kendra, 14, Brandon, 11, Carolina, 11, Crystal, nine and baby Elena, eight months.
And she turns 17 on December 23.
Her win follows the success of Whangarei Girls' High School teenager Sahra Ruddell who was recently selected as the face of New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester's spring/summer collection.
Sahra was on the catwalk at the Air New Zealand Fashion Week, and models for the same agency Alexandria has a chance to work for - 62 Model and Talent Agency.
Alexandria had also won the Northland Young Model 2004 contest, organised by Enjay Event Entertainment. A spokeswoman said Alexandria's national win was great.
Northlanders were also involved in hosting and entertaining at the Auckland event, she said.
