Emergency services are on their way to a four-car crash just south of Whangarei.

The crash between Toetoe Rd and Otaika Valley Rd may block State Highway One and diversions will be put in place.

Acting Senior Sergeant Ryan Gray said police and ambulance were on their way to the scene.
