UPDATE 2.15pm: Police have confirmed a 42-year-old woman has died this morning after crashing her motor scooter at Omapere.
Police say initial investigations had revealed the scooter had left the road and hit a tree.
Police will not be releasing the name of the woman until next of kin have
been notified.

A police serious crash investigator is on the way to Omapere after a female motorcyclist died this morning.
Emergency service workers were alerted about 9.30am. The local firebrigade were at the scene and called for the Northland Electricity rescue helicopter but the female passed away before the helicopter team arrived.
