Dargaville retailer Brian Burnett has received recognition from the world-renowned ceramic manufacturing company, Moorcroft of England.
Mr Burnett, who owns Distinction Jewellery in Victoria St, was recently presented with a plaque in recognition of his Moorcroft franchise by Emma Bossons, one of Moorcroft's principal designers.
Distinction Jewellery is the only retailer north
of Auckland to hold a Moorcroft franchise.
The company was originally founded in 1897 with designs by 24-year-old William Moorcroft. Today, Moorcroft leads the world of art pottery with its own distinctive design style. The items are considered investment works of art. Many are limited editions and have attracted collectors worldwide.
More than 100 collectors turned out to a "new release" event hosted by Mr Burnett.
After the presentation Mr Burnett said he was "surprised and pleased at our recognition".
The Dargaville store is one of only 12 Moorcroft retailers in New Zealand.
Ms Bossons brought with her a portfolio containing many of the original watercolour designs. The 2011 New Zealand Collection features kekeno (fur seal), rata and the Chatham Island robin, among others designs.
A specially designed vase has also been created to raffle as a fundraiser for the Christchurch earthquake appeal.
