City and Kaipara Flats will face off in the 2016 Northern Cricket Association Lion Red 50-Over final after compelling performances in the final round .

Needing to surpass one last hurdle in the form of Whangarei Boys' High School's 1st XI, City lit up the pitch at Kensington Park after winning the toss and electing to bowl first.

Taking 3-22, Joey Yovich put in a sublime effort with the ball, and Ian Page (2-11) and Simon Walker (2-18) followed his lead with tidy performances to bowl Boys' High all out for 106 after 48 overs.

Charging through the second innings with overs to spare, City's rebuttal was on song.

Coasting to a seven wicket win, their effort was one with notable ease as they reached 108/3 after 21.5 overs.

Helping their side to the win and a place in the final, James Thompson (15), Ian Page (32), and Harry Darkins (24 not out) were the stand outs with the bat.

At Bourne Dean Domain, Kaipara Flats were able to starve Kamo of runs to book their spot in the final.

Batting first on a reasonably good deck, Kamo made it to 88 runs before being bowled all out by the Kaipara bowling unit.

Missing several frontline players due to injury and Northland XI duties, Kaipara's batting order could have been deemed frail, but it proved to be strong as the home side chased down Kamo's total for the loss of just two wickets.

Spearheaded by the likes of Ewen Thompson and James Marshall, Kaipara remain in good stead going into this weekend's fixture.

The final between City and Kaipara takes place at Cobham Oval this Sunday.
