New Zealand Warriors Charlie Gubb, seen here breaking Canberra Raiders defence in the quarter-finals of the NRL Nines at Eden Park on Sunday, is likely be one of the star attractions when the Warriors come to Whangarei this week.

Northland rugby league fans are in for a treat this week with the ability to get up close to some of the game's biggest stars when the New Zealand Warriors take on the Gold Coast Titans.

But ahead of the pre-season game at Toll Stadium on Saturday, the Warriors and Titans players and support staff will visit schools and events around Whangarei to let fans meet their heroes.

This will be the first time Whangarei has had two NRL teams in town and the players are taking the opportunity to mix with their fans.

The Warriors will visit Whau Valley Primary, Tikipunga Primary, Raurimu Primary, Te Kapehu Whetu, Te Rawhitiroa kura and Kamo Primary schools tomorrow to show young fans, and possibly a few parents, their skills.

The Warriors will also visit Whangarei Primary, Kamo Intermediate, Manaia View, Totara Grove Primary, Hora Hora Primary and Whangarei Intermediate schools on Friday.

The Warriors support staff, including Kiwi legends Tony Iro and Duane Mann, will take a coaching session for Northland league coaches at Whangarei Boys' High School tomorrow night while the Titans' players will visit Whangarei Hospital on Friday afternoon.

Both teams will have a captain's run on the ground at Toll on Friday morning and afternoon, while a civic welcome for the Titans players will be held at Toll Stadium on Friday night.

The big event for Warriors' fans is a fan engagement event at Harvey Norman, in Whangarei, from 10am on Saturday.
