Sextions of the Tiger Turf league continue to be finalised throughout Northland with Hikurangi Club playing the event last weekend.
The winners on the day were Robin Sowerby, Grant Bush and Joe Thorburn. Runners-up were David Hood, Daniel Hood and Mike Butler.
As the Sowerby team has already qualified, bywinning the event held at Kamo, the second team representing the Hikurangi section will be Clyde Edmiston, Gary MacDonald and Graham Blackman.
Further sections will be played on Saturday at Kensington and Mangawhai. Two qualifiers from each section will play at One Tree Point on July 25 in the regional final. A section of this event was also held at Kaitaia Combined last weekend, and we are awaiting the results.
Last week's column stated that Wayne Wrack had received his gold bar at the centre awards this year for winning 15 centre titles. In fact Wayne received his bar for 20 centre titles. Apologies to Wayne for this error.
The centre handbook for the 2015-16 season is almost ready to go to print. Clubs are reminded that we are awaiting receipt of their club pages, including club officials for this handbook. They should have been to hand by last Tuesday.
Please check that your club match committee/secretary has forwarded your programme to the centre office. If not, please treat this matter as urgent.
AGM details
All clubs should have by now had their annual meetings and you are also reminded to forward to the centre office a copy of your club officials, including any new secretaries, copies of your financial accounts and any changes made to your club constitutions, for official sanctioning.
NZ programme
Changes to Bowls NZ fixtures for next season are now available on their website.
The major change is the deletion of regional competitions to find regional winners to go forward to New Zealand competitions.
Should you win a centre event in this category, you will now have direct entry to the New Zealand final. Check www.bowlsnz.co.nz.
