Gwen Lawson rounds out bowling news for the week.

Gwen Lawson rounds out bowling news for the week.

The Centre Triples were completed last weekend at the Dargaville greens and it is congratulations to Mangawhai - Colin Wintle, John Wintle and Wayne Williams - and to Kensington - Maureen Parker, Pam Brewster and Linda Brockbank - who were the successful teams and will represent Northland in the Regional event in the New Year.

Both finals went down to the wire with scores tied on the last end. In both matches the opposition were from the Hikurangi Club - the men, Sam Nelson, Steve Mitchell and Don Cameron and the women - Anne Bateman, Betty Mitchell and Savanna Lauder.

For John Wintle it was his fifth centre title and his gold star.

There were seven qualifiers in the men's division and five qualifiers in the women's division from fields of 28 men and 18 women's teams entered.

In the men's final the score was close for the 10 ends and the score was 9-6 to Hikurangi. A run of seven shots scored in the next four ends gave the lead to Mangawhai. Hikurangi were only able to score on one of the last eight ends and the title went to Mangawhai 17-10.
