Gwen Lawson rounds up bowling news.

The New Zealand National Championships have concluded for another year.

The final matches were the Fours competition for Men and Women. No Northland women reached the post section of the event.

Five Northland teams qualified in the Men's section with congratulations to Trevor Reader, Steve Smith, Dan Collett and Gary Fraser (Whangarei) and Ken Fitness and Peter Dorreen (Hikurangi), playing with Mike Bradshaw and Neville Hill of Onehunga, who reached the last 16 in the competition.

Other teams to qualify were Graham Gallant (Kensington), Sam Nelson (Hikurangi) and Colin Wintle (Mangawhai).

Unfortunately for our local teams they met one another in the first and second rounds of qualifying with only one team being able to go forward as the winners.
