Bowls: Kamo club hosting day of coaching

The Northland Coaching Association Programme is under way with a session for new and second-year bowlers being held at the Kamo Bowling Club this Sunday.

Registration is at 9am and the day will start at 9.30am. Please wear soft-soled shoes, casual warm clothing and bring your lunch. Everyone wanting to have a go is welcome.

The New Zealand final of the Tiger Turf sponsored winter three-bowl pairs league will be held in Auckland on Saturday.

Our Northern region representatives will be Ken Fitness and Anne Bateman of the Hikurangi Club partnered by Clive Claridge of Mt Manaia Club. We wish you every success.

The Northland Umpires Association annual fours tournament will be held at the Kamo Bowling Club this Saturday.

This is an any combination tournament and play starts at 9.30am.

Mufti with bowling shoes please. Morning tea will be 9am followed by four rounds of play.

The summer season will be officially opened by the Centre President Dusty Reader at the Whangarei greens on Saturday September 3 at 1.30pm.

All club presidents, delegates and members are invited to attend. Please ensure that your club is represented. Centre handbooks will be available.

Don't forget that entries for the Centre Pennants for men and women are now being accepted.

This event will be fours, to be held September 17-18.

Have a Go at Bowls days will be held at various clubs throughout the centre in the next few weeks.

Mangawhai clubs will have their day this Sunday from 10am to noon.

Hikurangi have their day on Sunday September 4 starting at 10am.

The day is free, bowls are supplied, come casual with soft-soled shoes.

Coaches will be on hand to help you enjoy your day. Have a Go days will follow at Onerahi, Kensington, One Tree Point, and Waipu and I will give you information on these days in the next two reports.
