A Whangarei business owner is devastated by the theft of two bikes and a scooter after at least four thieves smashed their way into the central city building.

Kim Reyburn of myBike, thought when a security company alerted her to an alarm activation early on Saturday morning she would just have to reset the system.

But when she made it to the business on Reyburn St, just after 1am on Saturday, she found shattered glass strewn across the floor and an empty space where the sought after bikes had been.

Ms Reyburn said she called police and after scanning the in-store security camera footage was able to give them a run down of the number of people involved, a description of what they appeared to be wearing and exactly what had been stolen.

She said police were on the scene quickly and a police dog and handler tracked a short distance, but were unable to find the culprits.

The black-coloured Forgotten bikes sell for $599 and the purple Grit scooter for $199.

Ms Reyburn posted a short security camera clip on the shop's Facebook page.

Yesterday the post had more than 11,000 views and had been shared over 180 times.

"I can't believe the support we have had already.

"We have already had people ringing in to report seeing bikes they thought might have been ours."

Ms Reyburn took the burglary personally and she wanted the bikes back.

"At the end of the day I don't want these guys to benefit. We want to decide who we support."
