A refrigerated load of butter took an unscheduled off-load when the truck and trailer unit carrying the container tumbled off State Highway 1 in Northland.
Police and emergency services were called to the roundabout at Port Marsden Highway on SH1, south of Whangārei, about 9.15am yesterday.The truck with a container full of butter was heading for Auckland. The driver was able to climb through a broken window and suffered minor injuries and shock.
Police said he was wearing a seatbelt.
Officers managed to keep traffic flowing through the roundabout but when a hiab truck with a crane was called into right the unit, traffic was diverted through nearby side roads.
Police said they were waiting on some information in relation to their investigation but the driver had been issued with a summons for careless driving.
