Two crashes at opposite ends of the day kept Whangārei police busy yesterday.
The first happened just after 8am at the intersection of State Highway One and Maungakaramea Rd.
The crash involved two vehicles. Whangārei Police Sergeant Ryan Gray said one person was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be serious.
A tow truck was needed to clear the crash site.
The second crash happened just after 2pm at the intersection of Western Hills Dr and Kamo Rd, where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.
A police patrol unit was driving past and came across the crash.
The pedestrian suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Whangārei Hospital.
A vehicle which had a damaged windscreen was parked in the left hand southbound lane on Western Hills Dr, but the right hand lane remained open.
