Two men, one armed with a weapon, stole cash and cigarettes during an aggravated robbery of a Whangarei service station.

Police were called to the Gull service station in Raumanga just before 3.45am
today..

Two men entered the store and produced a weapon before getting away with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.

Police said none of the staff in the store were injured in the robbery.

Investigations into the aggravated robbery are continuing and police are looking for the two men involved.

Only minutes later, Far North police were called to a ram raid in Taipa.

The burglary happened just after 3.45am today at Reel and Rod at the intersection of State Highway 10 and Oruru Rd.

The offenders were able to get into the store and take some items before fleeing.

Police were still working to confirm exactly what had been taken and how many people were involved.

It's not the first time the Gull Service Station has been the target of a robbery. In July last year two workers fled into a safe room after a man barged in just minutes after threatening staff at the nearby McDonald's.

In May 2016, three boys aged 13,14 and 15 were arrested after allegedly entering the store wielding a baseball bat and knives. They threatened the attendant before making off with the cash register.
