The Armed Offenders Squad was called to a Whangarei address yesterday to assist police in arresting a man wanted for allegedly breaching his prison release conditions.

Police arrested the 35-year-old man at the Raurimu Ave address about midday.

AOS accompanied officers to the address as police had information that there might be firearms present at the home. Police were also seen at an address on Lockheed Place, off Raurimu Ave, around the same time.

The man will appear in the Whangarei District Court today.
