1. Exercise is a great way to reduce stress, strengthen your body and boost your immune system. Going for a walk after work or at lunchtime for half an hour is great if you don't have the time or money for a gym. Instead of slumping on the couch after
work, try going for a walk - you will have a lot more energy for the rest of the day instead of feeling sluggish.
2. We all need between six and eight hours of sleep each night. Going to bed at a regular time will get your body into a routine, and you will wake up feeling refreshed and raring to go.
3. Take some time to relax. Easier said than done for some, but finding time to relax does not have to mean wasting a whole day lazing by the pool in your bikini, fruity drink in hand. Although, if you have a day to waste, what better way to spend it? Relaxing can be as simple as prying yourself away from your desk for your whole lunch break and going for a walk. This will decrease your stress levels dramatically and you'll find you'll be more focused and motivated when you return to work.
4. Chicken and fish are great sources of protein and are also great for the immune system. Try stir-frying, grilling or boiling for a healthy option.
5. Mother knows best, and when she tells you to "drink lots of water", listen. Keep a water bottle by your side all day and you will be drinking bottle after bottle without even realising it.
6. "Fat" is not always a bad word. There is such a thing as healthy fat, in the form of oils such as vegetable oil and avocado oil. To distinguish the good fats from the bad ones, remember good fat is liquid at room temperature and bad fat, such as butter, is solid at room temperature.
7. Vitamin C is an essential vitamin, one that our bodies cannot manufacture or store. We need to top it up every day with oranges, strawberries, grapefruit, or a vitamin supplement.
8. Adding pinenuts, hazelnuts or sunflower seeds to your diet is an easy way to boost your vitamin E. Vitamin E helps with overall health and is said to help prevent illnesses such as heart disease in later life.
9. Heading outside in the sun for 15 minutes each day is a natural source of vitamin D. Vitamin D is good for your skin as well as overall health. Don't forget to slip, slop and slap, however.
10. If all of these vitamins sound like too much effort, head to the supermarket or health shop and buy a multivitamin that suits you. A multivitamin with a mixture of vitamin C, garlic and echinacea is the best mixture for boosting your immune system.
It's not rocket science
