No Christmas parade is complete without Santa, but is that the Grinch driving? At Pahiatua's Christmas parade.

No Christmas parade is complete without Santa, but is that the Grinch driving? At Pahiatua's Christmas parade.

The crowds had already begun to gather in Pahīatua’s main street as the time for the Christmas parade approached.

Explore Christmas, the annual market with stalls selling a variety of wares, was already open with residents and visitors checking out what was available.

Months of organising and all the hard work making floats paid off as people gathered in Main St to watch the parade.

There was a variety of themes, from gingerbread houses to the Grinch and one local company went Top Gun.

Pahīatua also had a competition for best shop window display.

New World Pahīatua took out the prize for best commercial float and St Anthony’s School for best non-commercial.

Mills Bros was named the winner of the window competition with the judges commenting on the incredible use of space in its windows, with small details making for an impactful display.

Tararua Community Centre was second with judges saying they appreciated the imagination, and Mitre 10 was third with the comment it was a “wonderful use of lighting and signage to make the window fun and colourful”.
