For CD, White Fern and No3 batsman Sara McGlashan top scored with 14 runs off 28 balls and opener Michele Frey was next on 12 runs from 49 balls.
Fellow opener, and Irish international, Eimear Richardson (11 runs/17 balls), No4 and skipper Rachel Priest (10/11), No5 and White Fern Kate Broadmore (1/14), No6 and Irish international Kerry Tomlinson, (10/16) and No7 and Dutch international Esther Lanser (6/20) all joined the top-order batting list who failed to occupy the crease with conviction.
Having won the toss, Priest had the Hearts padding up on a bowler-friendly wicket that saw Auckland's star-studded batting line-up struggle to eke out runs.
Their top run scorer was No4 Katie Perkins on 26 with extras the next highest contributor with 20, including 17 wides that CD bowlers gifted.
It seemed the Hinds did not learn from the hard-graft approach of the opposition batsmen who, the day before, had smashed the CD bowlers all over Lincoln park for a comfortable T20 victory.
However, all that did not detract from how well the Hinds bowled to stifle Auckland's rampant batting line up to 140 all out with 31 balls left in their innings.
Manawatu teenager Hannah Rowe, in her rookie season, was the pick with an outstanding 4-17 from her 6.5 overs, including two maidens, at 2.6 runs an over.
Medium pacer Sandee Hui got 2-14 at 2.3 runs an over, ex-international Abby Burrows inched closer to her 100th limited-overs wicket with 2-27 for her 98th scalp, Broadmore got 1-30 at three runs an over while a wicket-less Richardson delivered frugally with 2.6 runs an over off her 10-over allotment.
Tomlinson had a day to forget with 23 runs from two uneventful overs.
"After a fairly heavy drubbing yesterday [in Tuesday's T20], we had a fair bit of debrief and [in] reflection our first 40 to 50 overs were outstandingly good.
"Hannah got four wickets but all bowlers did well. It was an almost perfect performance against one of the strongest sides," Shrimpton said, adding that Rowe could start today in the final T20 match.
"Abby bowled well too and we're trying to make the way for her to get her 100th wicket."
Shrimpton said left-armer Maneka Singh was deliberately left out of the equation yesterday.
"Maneka is resting because she is physically tired and needed to put her feet up a little today.
"She's had a long commitment to domestic cricket and the under-21 tournament," he said of the 15-year-old New Zealand Emerging squad member who failed her beep test at Lincoln during the national tourney a fortnight ago and has struggled to bowl into the wind in a conscious drive to improve that facet of her play.
In today's T20 match at a compact and flat Lincoln ground, Shrimpton expected CD to bat first and post a "competitive" 150-160 total against the Hearts in the final game of round three domestic competition.
Shrimpton expected his troops to "learn and tuck into the brain box" lessons from yesterday's game and bring that momentum to today's T20 encounter before the inclement weather kicks in.
