Lynaire Williams' (above) North Island girls team confirmed their favouritism with two good wins on day one of the Trans-Tasman Quadrangular Volleyball Tournament, being played at Pettigrew-Green Arena.
They survived first up, against New South Wales, rallying from two sets to one down, forcing the match into a deciding fifth set which they won 15-9. T
he afternoon was a different story, with Woodford House star, and North Island captain, Charlotte Kight in dominant form as her team won 3-0.
Alani Samia's North Island boys had a more comfortable time of it, conceding a solitary set on their way to wins over Queensland and New South Wales.
Sam Wallace-Boyd and Tim Kirk shone for the North Island, whose boys and girls teams meet their South Island counterparts this morning.
Unlike the unbeaten North, both South Island teams went winless on day one.
