Simon Wilson had it all his way in the jump-off to decide the North Island grand prix showjumping championships at Dannevirke yesterday.
He and his horse Vita Power Swinger were one of two combinations to go into the jumpoff with four faults - there were no clear rounds.
The Waipukurau combination dropped another rail in the jumpoff but came home in 33.21 seconds which beat the Cambridge combination of Mark Brooks (Cambridge) and Piccabello, who acquired eight faults in 48.45 seconds.
It was just as clear cut in the pony grand prix, with Marton's Mark Duncan and Cheblinkers jumping double clear in 30.65 seconds in the jumpoff.
On Saturday Matangi's Katie McVean, riding Dunstan Hairy McClairy, was too slick for the opposition in the North Island young rider championship class.
McVean and Kumeu's Lisa Coupe, riding Damarusa, were the only two of the 16 starters to record clear rounds. In the jumpoff, it was tight, but McVean steered her mount home in 32.18s while Coupe recorded 33.6s.
Whangarei rider Samantha Peters took out the North Island pony speed championships on Gentian Blue while Waipukurau's Oliver Edgecombe on Atrium JJ Freelance won the horse equivalent.
