With NTOB 36.3 points ahead (accumulated from T20, English style 120-over competition and one-dayers) of their rivals and only 36 points up for grabs leading to the one-day play-offs, the reds have secured the overall title.
"It's not the nicest trophy but it's the best one to drink out of," Diack said of his team who won the English style competition but lost the T20 and the NZ Club Championship qualifier to CHB.
"There's still a way to go because I've been in teams where we were the best side but lost in the semifinals of the one dayers."
On Saturday, Tech amassed 264-7 in 50 overs with opener Bronson Meehan scoring 86 runs and No 3 Matt Edmondson adding 65.
CHB English import Paul Hindmarch took 5-53 from 10 overs.
In reply, CHB scored 231 all out with 20 balls to spare.
No 4 Kruger van Wyk was unbeaten on 67 with fellow Central Districts Stag Ben Smith adding 53 at No3 and opener Henry Hunter contributing 39.

In reply, the villagers eclipsed the target with 168-6 in 38.3 overs with No3 Graeme Tryon scoring 46 and Central Districts player Ben Wheeler 32 not out at No7.
Eddie Torr was the pick of Taradale's bowlers with 3-41 from 10 overs, including a maiden.
"There's four games to go so there'll be no points for coming close. We just have to keep on winning," Havelock captain Todd Astill said.
Not intending any disrespect to Taradale or NOBM, Astill said his players showed commitment each Saturday with a consistent line up keen to claim bonus points.
"At the end of the day it might come down to 1 or 2 points so every point counts in making the playoffs."
At Cornwall Park, the hosts registered a five-wicket victory over The Station Napier Old Boys' Marist.
The Tony Pothan-coached NOBM amassed 199 to be all out in 49.4 overs.
No3 Jack Ward top-scored with 85, including 14 boundaries.
The next highest score was 39 extras to the tune of 34 wides and two no balls while No6 V. Sivaran added 30.
Heretaunga Building Society Cornwall skipper Jacob Smith claimed 6-32 from 6.4 overs and Ben Jackett took 2-30 from seven overs, including two maidens.
However, John Jowsey was the most frugal with 1-23 from 10 overs, including three maidens.
Cornwall overhauled the total with 200-5 with 37 balls to spare.
No4 Seb Langridge continued his memorable summer with an unbeaten 66 while No3 Michael Taiaroa scored 51 runs.
