In reply, the hosts were 107-3 with five overs to spare as White Fern and skipper Sophie Devine at No3 was unbeaten on 71 from 45 balls, including 10 boundaries and three sixes.
CD slow bowler Sandee Hui was the biggest casualty, going for 38 runs in two overs while fellow into-the-wind bowler Broadmore went for seven an over. Those with the wind behind them prospered bar Kate Baxter, who went for eight an over.
Veteran Abby Burrows was pick of the bowlers with 2-18 from four overs, Eimear Richardson 0-10 from three overs.
Hawke's Bay's Sonya Thompson was the most frugal into the wind, going for three runs from an over but, unfortunately, not used further.
Emerging squad member Maneka Singh, a left-armer who in previous seasons opened and also closed at the death, enigmatically wasn't used at all.
CD coach Mike Shrimpton said Devine had effectively won the game with some lusty hitting.
"Sophie had an outstanding innings and you don't get to see it all the time," Shrimpton said.
He said Singh was not used because of the strong wind, although last summer she was religiously exposed to the conditions.
A total around 130-140 would have been more competitive but, he felt, the hosts' fielding was stifling and bowling tidy.
The erratic appearance of bowlers, Shrimpton said, was an attempt to try to upset the rhythm of the batters.
"Hui is pretty flat but she did put them in the right areas."
An earlier season also robbed CD of a decent build-up but CD were used to that, he said.
The Hinds have the opportunity to redeem themselves today and tomorrow in the 50-over matches.
