Tania Wright has announced that she will be standing in the Taradale Ward at this year's Local Body Elections.
After a three year break from local government regaining her health and supporting her family, she said she was ready once again to put her "extensive knowledge of the community to good use.
"I have lived in Taradale for over 30 years and wish to continue to represent my local community" she said.
Ms Wright has maintained her connections to the community since stepping down at the last election through her roles as Vice Chair of the Taradale Marketing Association and Chair of Creative Arts Napier.
She said she brings 12 years of experience in local government to the table.
She will be nominated by Stuart Nash MP and former MP Chris Tremain.
Mr Tremain was happy to support her nomination. "Tania led my electorate office for the 9 years that I was in parliament and did an outstanding job" he said.
Mr Nash was also pleased to support her nomination.
"Tania has an outstanding record of community service and as a community leader and I know she will make a worthwhile contribution as a city councillor" he said.
