WorkSafe has opened an investigation after a death involving a side-by-side off-road vehicle near Dannevirke.

Emergency services were called to the rural Weber Rd property in Waitahora shortly after 8.30am on Monday.

A police spokeswoman said the person died at the scene.

“WorkSafe has been advised, and the death will be referred to the Coroner.”

A WorkSafe spokesman urged side-by-side users to choose the right vehicle for the job, wear seatbelts and helmets, and keep limbs inside the cab.

“These simple actions save lives.”
