Designer and woolshed don't usually go hand in hand - but that's not to say they aren't a match made in heaven.
An event being held by Te Awanga creatives will take Cliffton Station working woolshed from daggy (literally) to fabulous with an injection of interior flair during a fundraiserfor Te Awanga Kindergarten next Friday, October 16, from 7pm.
The Design and Style evening will be fronted by talented duo Vic Bibby and Dael Brady whose interior business Bibby + Brady has gone from strength to strength.
They hope to teach women about finding their interior style with demonstrations detailing how to add colour with cushions and advice on mix and matching patterns - without excessive fuss.
At first their client base was mainly outside the region. But they are starting to notice more Hawke's Bay people are willing to open their homes and minds to bold colour.
"We are starting to get more local clients, which is great because you can be more hands-on - it's good to be able to work with so many creative people in Hawke's Bay - curtain and blind makers, upholsterers," Ms Bibby said.
Touted as a great ladies' night out - the event will showcase easy, digestible bite-size tips that people can implement straight away.
"Women establish their fashion style at an early age, possibly not their interior style, they are often quite similar - it can cross over - people can learn how to establish that style," Ms Brady said.
"That's what evenings like this are for, we show them how to be a bit bolder."
Also on show is unique furniture by Asha Payton of Little & Fox - whose upholstery style aesthetic is a perfect fit - she will have a select few pieces for sale including some bright cushions in a range of beautiful fabric.
"It's a fun night for people to come out and support a local cause, there's a special sale," she said.
Being "flat out" with commissions, she won't have a huge range for purchase but people can always visit the website for a design and create their own furniture option.
Artist Robyn Fleet will also have her exclusive pieces on show and for sale.
