A 45-year-old woman remains in a critical condition at Hawke's Bay Hospital after a serious crash this afternoon.

Police said the female motorcycle rider was involved in a serious motor vehicle crash involving a ute at the intersection of Farndon and Pakowhai Roads at 2PM.

The sole occupant of the ute did not require any medical attention.

Emergency services and the Serious Crash Unit are still at the scene of a crash.

A HBDHB spokeswoman said the motorcyclist was in a critical condition in the intensive care unit.
