A woman's bike ride on Te Mata Peak took a turn for the worse this morning, after becoming stuck in a tree.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter responded at about 11.45am and a paramedic was winched into the tall trees to retrieve the patient, a spokeswoman said.
The young womanfell from her mountain bike and sustained leg injuries.
She was then transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital for further treatment.
A Hawke's Bay District Health Board spokeswoman said she was later discharged.
