Hawke's Bay has scooted away with multiple wins from the young riders who attended the New Zealand Scooter Nationals in Christchurch last weekend.

Ryan Pedlow aged 11 won in the 12 and under division.

"When I won it was so exciting, overwhelming and heart-warming. I was so happy and relieved," he said.

The tricks Pedlow performed in his run were a kickless rewind, a lipslide, a buttercup, a 360 bar spin, a 270 bri flip, a broadslide to heel and a manual.

Scootering runs in the family as Ryan's younger twin sisters Heidie and Emma placed second and third respectively in the 14 and under girls' division.

Alex Madsen, 21, took out the woman's open pro division for the seventh year running.

Other Hawke's Bay riders placed high with Zion Kiripatea placing second in the 16 and under category and Thor Larson finishing at third in the 14 and under division.

All the Hawke's Bay riders have qualified for the Australasian competition held in Melbourne in May.

"Any chance we can have riders travel for competitions is always a win in the books," Bay Skate facility lead Kyle Hamilton said.

"Competitions give these riders a chance to show the country what they have spent hours and hours working on."

Hamilton said the riders were now back at Bay Skate and would be reviewing videos and planning for the next competition.
