A former employee has spoken out as to why she left NZCU Hastings.

A former NZ Credit Union Baywide employee says there was "no way I was going to be honest as to my reasons for leaving".

NZCU employee, Hayley Edmondson, who was "bullied" by human-resource manager Louise Alexandra into revealing her friend's and former colleague's controversial Facebook post, said she felt "vulnerable and violated" by the credit union's senior executives before later resigning.

During her evidence in last December's Human Rights Tribunal hearing in Napier she was challenged during cross-examination about making no reference to the cake incident following her resignation.

Ms Edmondson, who worked in the contact centre for a little more than four months, said there was "no way I was going to be honest as to my reasons for leaving" during the exit interview conducted over a cup of coffee. She was concerned NZCU could contact her new employer.

She left NZCU because she felt unsafe at work due to "Baywide's deliberate breaches of privacy".

Her experience at NZCU Baywide left her hurt, humiliated and disappointed, while attempts to have her formal complaint addressed by NZCU, were met with no action, response, accountability or apology.
