Cruising is on a major growth trajectory in New Zealand and our passengers are delighted and enchanted by the destinations that our P&0 Cruises and Princess Cruises ships regularly visit there.

Part of the appeal for our passengers is the very warm welcome they receive from local communities.

Your readers may be interested in some feedback I received from a passenger who recently visited Napier and clearly loved it.

She wrote: "We would like to thank you, Napier, for such an amazing experience and outpouring of hospitality. We recently visited Napier on our P&O; Pacific Dawn cruise. From the moment we hopped off the ship at Napier Port we felt a sense of fun, welcome and passion from the lovely people of Napier."

Napier is clearly making cruise passengers feel they are welcome guests and I am certain this approach will be reflected in the economic benefits associated with cruise ship visits.

I just wanted to add my thanks to the people and business community of Napier for making our passengers feel so much at home.

The passenger who wrote was so impressed she and her husband are now planning a week's holiday in Napier.
