Weather this week in Hawke’s Bay: Rain eases as high pressure brings fine settled change

The sun is coming back for Hawke’s Bay, and with it will come a run of unseasonably chilly nights.

MetService meteorologist Vivien Whyte said showers would clear on Tuesday morning and the clouds would break up in the afternoon.

Whyte said a high-pressure system near the East Coast of the South Island would make its way north, bringing more settled weather.

“Things are set to improve. From the middle of the week, we are looking at some pretty fine weather.”

Moderate southerly winds on Monday are expected to die out, and light winds are forecast for the rest of the week.

Whyte said from Wednesday, temperatures would reach highs of 17C and 18C.

Northeasterlies will develop for a time n on Wednesday afternoon.

“In terms of the best places to be, it’s pretty much everywhere, because it will be nice and sunny and a lot brighter.

She said because of the sunny days, night temperatures would remain in the single digits at 3C and 4C, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

“They seem quite a bit chillier than May might be used to.”

Light frosts are expected in sheltered places.
