Waiting soon over for Mission Concert update

Crowds flock to a previous Mission Estate Winery Concert, which features well-known entertainers.

The wait for news about the timing and the artists for the 2015 Mission Estate Winery Concert may be over soon.

While Sport and Entertainment Ltd's director of operations Garry Craft said yesterday there was nothing to say "at this stage", preparations were well advanced. "We are still working on a couple of things and there may be something for you in the next two weeks or so," he said.

"So it's a case of 'stand by'."

If it all comes together as Mr Craft hopes, the announcement will be early compared to last year when the UK and Irish Invasion concert was revealed on November 11.

The rumour mill has been grinding away over recent weeks with some online postings suggesting the star of the big show could indeed be a real star - Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band.

There has also been speculation the piano man, Billy Joel, could make the journey to the Mission hillside.

He has just completed a series of concerts at Madison Square Gardens in New York and received top reviews.

He is also staging two more concerts at the venue in December but after that there is no indication on his website of his movements into the New Year.
