Saturday night's fire at Wairoa College is still being investigated.

Detective Constable Jason Thackeray of Wairoa Police confirmed the fire, which spread from a rubbish bin into a wooden walkway and the wall of a recently refurbished classroom block was deliberately lit.

There hadn't been any other possibly-related incidents in
recent times that police were aware of, and information was still being sought from or about anyone who had been in the area around the time of the fire.
