The CBD will have a fun art installation from Monday, October 12 to Friday, October 30 in the green space between Market and Emerson Streets.
Napier City Business Inc, Napier City Council, in association with local artist Vesica Aotearoa director and designer Anthony Van Dorsten, bring you "Full Spectrum", an installation to celebrate "light at the end of the tunnel, diversity and celebration".
General manager of Napier City Business Inc, Pip Thompson, agrees with this sentiment.
'"We always need more fun in our lives and art is a wonderful way to bring this to 'light' in our community. We continue to experience some trying times with the ongoing effects of Covid-19, and we believe this interactive art piece not only will light up our CBD for three weeks but will bring lots of smiles and joy to our locals".
Full Spectrum is made up of seven 2.5m hexagonal sculptures, incorporating pixel mapping, musical sounds and lighting animation.
"It was born out of a love for passageway installations, pixel-mapping technology and big, bright colours, the piece started as a dream," Anthony says.
The installation will be up as part of the Harcourt's Hawkes Bay Arts Festival free community night, Nuit Blanche - Art after Dark. Some streets will be closed around Napier's arts quarter for galleries, hospitality, food trucks to be open. There will be DJs, music and street performers plus image projection - lasers will light up the CBD landscape on Saturday, October 17 from 6-10pm.
