The Napier Pilot City Trust steps up its role as social justice innovators with a lineup of three speakers at its second annual Robson Collection Lecture Series.
The 5.30-7pm programme on November 30 in the Napier Public Library's Seminar Room will include the trust's newly appointed first Robson Collection Scholarshiprecipient, Victoria University Institute of Criminology masters student Hannah Bentley.
She will focus on issues and challenges facing women in the transition from incarceration to the community, which will be the subject of research in Napier involving inmates released into Hawke's Bay communities.
Also speaking will be Institute lecturer Trevor Bradley, co-author of a report Not in my backyard? Crime in the neighbourhood, published earlier this year, and St John's College Hastings principal Neal Swindells, addressing challenges in education for preparing youth for lives in the community.
The Pilot City Trust was an initiative emerging from a week-long visit 34 years ago by the Social Development Council to what is now the EIT.
