Thousands of participants and spectators enjoyed perfect weather for IronMaori half-Ironman in Napier this morning.

IronMaori, the brainchild of Heather Skipworth, continues to grow each year and judging by the thousands there today, this year is no exception.

Among those participating was New Zealand movie star Cliff Curtis, who realised a dream when he completed the 2km swim leg in the team event.

Curtis, 46, was part of the three-person Team Mo, put together by singer Moana Maniapoto, in line with the kaupapa of the One Heart Many Lives health project.

Ms Maniopoto took on the 21km run and the 90km bike ride was done by George Bradfield, husband of Ngati Kahungunu songstress Hinewehi Mohi.

Another notable entry was Maori Party co-leader and full-course competitor, Te Ururoa Flavell, who told Mrs Skipworth yesterday that he hadn't been able to train as much this year as he had for his previous bids.
