Mystery still surrounds the suspicious death of 33-year-old Jermaine Ramos, more than a month after his body was found at a house in Akina, Hastings.

The Philippine national, who was living in Waipukurau at the time, was found after emergency services were called to a property on Ferguson St on April 1.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested at the address and is currently before the court charged with assault with intent to rob.

But Hawke's Bay police have now publicly said they believe it is likely others were involved in Ramos' death.

They are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

A day after Ramos' death a Ferguson St resident told Hawke's Bay Today he did not realise what was going on until he saw police at his neighbour's address.

"My partner said she saw a group of men coming out of the house and into the garage on Monday night," the man said.

"Eight people came running out of the shed and three jumped into a purple car and took off," he said.
