The Hits DJ's, Adam Green and Megan Banks

The Hits DJ's, Adam Green and Megan Banks

Well it's been a big week here at The Hits Headquarters in downtown Napier.

I've had to really test my willpower and see how little of that power I actually have when it comes to my diet.

Confession time, I've broken the diet for two good causes which called for two glasses of mimosa. Now a mimosa is just a fancy pants word for a buck's fizz. And I've discovered this week they're not just for Christmas Day morning.

So what was I celebrating? I'm thrilled to be able to officially announce that I am one part of the new Adam and Megan breakfast show.

Adam is just as thrilled but mainly because he has someone permanently in the studio to listen to his bad dad jokes!

Now to the second reason for the 'cheers'. As of last Thursday Adam and Megan on The Hits 89.5 is the No 1 weekday breakfast radio show * in Hawke's Bay!

I've worked on many different shows in my 20 odd years as a radio broadcaster but the feeling you get when you know your radio survey results are due out is always the same. Complete and utter petrification!

During survey time, members of the public are asked about every little detail of their radio listening habits.

Who they listen to, how long they listen for, etc, and then the wonderful team at GfK compile this information and that's how we get our results.

And this process happens four times a year, which means that four times a year you have a sleepless night before the results are announced.

For the last two surveys that I've been with The Hits we have steadily climbed and now we're the front runner (first time I've ever been a front runner, I don't run) which is really exciting!

So it's time to say a big thanks to our audience for tuning in and listening each morning.

Local radio is hugely important in this landscape when there's so much choice, so we're blimmen stoked that you choose to listen to us.

And if you don't already tune in, then try changing the dial to 89.5FM tomorrow morning from 6am so that when our next survey results come out I will be off my diet and I can celebrate with a Mimosa and some hot chips. I'm a classy kind of gal!
