Hi readers, it's Megan here. When you get to the ripe old age of myself ... "firsts" are things that you don't get to experience very often.

They're experiences usually hidden deep in your memory somewhere that often evoke much happiness or a general feeling of "thank goodness I never have to go through that again".

This weekend, however, I had many firsts. The wedding season is coming to an end and, as a celebrant, almost every weekend over the past six months I have had the amazing honour of getting to marry some seriously gorgeous people.

And, after racking up nearly 50 couples, I thought I had pretty much experienced it all, but this weekend delighted me in some new and beautiful moments.

Daniel and Michelle had chosen to marry in the incredible Redwoods area of Te Mata Peak Park.

I had only ever been there once as walker of the park and at the time I didn't really appreciate its beauty because I was concentrating on the fact that I still had some epic, uphill, thigh-busting climbs before I reached my car.

So that was my first first, performing a wedding in the Redwoods, and that was just the beginning. It was the also the first time I had been escorted to the ceremony in the back of a military-style jeep.

Six of us at a time climbed on the back (I was obviously "Hot Lips" Houlihan) to traverse farmland to get to the redwoods. I managed to disembark said jeep without falling on my face, another first.

For the first time I also got to wear flat shoes for the ceremony (due to the health and safety issues of slipping on pine needles), so my bunions thanked me, and for once I didn't worry if the bride was late, my feet were totally nailing it!

And finally, in a wedding of firsts ... and a big thanks to Daniel for this one ... I got to delve into my celebrant bag of tricks and pull out my little mini bottle of hairspray to tame a few of Dan's scary locks that were trying to make a break for it. Hairspraying the groom, tick!

Thanks for having me guys. If you'd like to name your first-born after me, fire away. - Megan
