Vege prices

*   Vege prices It's recommended we eat 5 plus servings of fruit and veg a day. As a family of 5 that's 35 servings, who can afford that at today's ridiculous prices!!

*   Of course tomatoes and lettuce are high prices, it is winter! They have to be grown indoors. Do what we do, only buy them when in season.

Gascoigne Street

*   Gascoigne Street As a ratepayer of Hastings I'm disgusted that the council could waste $10,000 of our money to work on Gascoigne St. Who gave the go-ahead for the work to start?

*   Re Gascoine St road works: If the people of Gascoigne St don't like their road then they should pay for the removal not me.

Other thoughts

*   Roger Moroney. Enjoyed your article in HB Today. Big ups to the kids. They do deserve to prosper.

*   Ha! To the guy who put a company van into the Clive River. Launch your jetski at high tide next time. DJ

*   Cycle lanes Te Mata Rd great so why do we have a gaggle of adult idiots cyclng three abreast on dusk. MM

*   Re Winz scheme. You need to write facts. It's not Winz scheme, it's the Government's scheme. Winz are the bum boys who have no say but do what they're told. JM

*   Popped into the pub to use the loo while up town. The beggar, sign beside him on the bar, was joking with another patron that he had made enough coins today. CL

*   Re the description "Maori or Polynesian" makes you sick: Often the media (and police) use this description to describe an unidentified criminal offender. One can only assume you should in fact be more worried about the crime/victims than what description is used.

*   Key at it again, wants Australia's refugees here but can't look after the people of NZ. And what's United Nations got to do with setting a quota of 750 refugees for NZ? Isn't it bad enough we get overstayers by the 1000s already, and Oz doesn't want our apples, but Key is willing to bring their refugees here. JB

*   What is it with KFC. Go to get a feed at 8.20 Tuesday night to be told they have run out of chicken and will be 25 minute wait! Guess it's not a fast food outlet any more! They lost our business, went 2 Macas instead!

*   After making a record profits the power companies see the consumer as Fonterra does - just more dumb beasts to be milked. PG

*   Went down Lumsden Rd today, what a mess, just not practical. Take a look at Massey St, very simple layout but works.

*   Re Hawke's Bay economic growth track since 2001 not good reading Mr Nash. Labour and you in Government 2001 to 2008. Nothing to be proud of, all downhill. Rob

*   I agree, tree cosies interesting and varied. A nice change from ugly spikey trunks.

I*   'm appalled at the double standards the law system has. I got done three times like the lawyer for DIC and I got three months prison. So if you do the crime you do the time no matter what occupation, race or religion. Truckie

J*   udge Miller wanted to impose longer sentence for cop bashing so why did he reduce sentence for lack of previous offending. Why not sentence people for crime committed, not look for excuse to reduce. Trevor Allan

*   Anne Tolley couldn't care less about what's best for the kids or she'd listen to school principals. Bet she's got her eye on the PM's job. Thats why she's bullying principals and flexing her muscles.

*   Goverment spends millions yearly to keep the Manawatu Gorge open. The Saddle Rd needs widening. A one-off job and millions saved. Shut the Gorge. Baza

*   Why are retailers in Hawke's Bay still selling analogue televisions?

Are Hastings and Havelock Nth in the grips of a terrible virus or bacterial attack on the roads. They appear to be covered in orange and silver objects.

Too true deputy editor, 2 years is not enough for serious assault on police officer in Clive. I expect police to challenge this travesty. Rick

Rugby ball looks like an Easter egg.

So air pumps are not living up to the glowing reports. So pleased we didn't ditch our efficient and economical wood burner.

Henare O'Keefe spoke at the full gospel dinner held at the Hastings RSA last Thursday night - two words - true mana!
