Abortion protesters

*   Mrs Hannam I guess if your daughter was given a foetal dolphin or kiwi, that would be cute. Terminating thousands of potential NZers every year - that's disgusting. Abortion without parental knowledge or consent - that's disgusting.

*   Anti abortionists should be moved off the streets. Where are the polices' new powers. These protesters are a disgrace to Hastings.

*   To be honest the article about those protesters giving that intermediate girl a toy foetus is not something to call the police about. 12 year olds these days know what sex is. I did when i was 12. Everybody did, although it is something you talk to your parents about I don't see how the protesters were in the wrong. Abortions are bad in my opinion anyway.

*   Re anti abortion story: After hearing of two intermediate girls pregnant eight years ago I'd say better sooner than later! There are many types of contraception out there but who would ever think that age would be given them! So yes! They should be approached as school would never do a better job than those anti-abortion people.

Other thoughts

*   To the person who text about NZ kids in poverty and the number of obese kids: Have you not got many kids? The price of everything good for kids is expensive, eg:dairy, fruit, veges. Unfortunately junk food cheaper, we mums don't feel the best feeding our kids junk. We are forced too?

*   Isn't it high time the standard of living was lifted for all and not just the select few?

*   Instead of giving $800,000, for pornography study, why not give it to child cancer instead. KB

*   Child poverty is caused by parents. I am a sole parent on DPB with barely $1 left at end of the week but I tell you what, we don't live rich, but we live clean. I do my housework so I don't get mould growing in my cold damp house. My child has breakfast, lunch and dinner, clothes, shoes and everything she needs because I choose to put her first.

*   Queen Square! I think other parks should have more qym equipment like this. I have seen young and old people have fun while working out. Good stuff council.

*   More oil drilling coming up this time for HB despite majority wishes falling on deaf ears.

*   Re Don't frack the Bay: We put our names down when we watched Gaslands and you are yet to contact us. Put us in a position to help.

*   Deny it and criticise it all you want but the fact remains the ever widening disparity gap between rich and poor is the reason theft and drug lords are rife. RB

*   Totally agree DR. As everyone grows up they experience so much in their lives. Good and bad. TLC and respect to our seniors. GM mid 40s

*   Winz threaten to cut unemployment benefits if dolies don't sign on to a training benefit while doing the employment skills course. Dole payments remain the same, the only thing that changes is the name of the benefit. On paper and officially it looks like the unemployment rate has dropped. It hasn't but it makes the stats look good.

*   To my critics regarding my speed limit text: I would love to be able to pass the people going 20km/h below the limit. Maybe said slow drivers could pull over and let the queue of cars pass, they could then smell the flowers. JHW

*   The expressway is a straight clear road no bumps or obstructions and few hazards. There is no reason in normal conditions to drive so slow. Very frustrating.

*   Thank you to the lady who took my purse to the Taradale Police Station.

*   Re Taradale toilets: I invite the mayoress and councillors to try and use these. You will need to bring your own soap and towel. Text in what you think. C.Smith, Taradale

*   I am Waipawa mother who was going to drop kids of at school and was absolutely blown away when i saw AOS. Why were these kids not protected in any way? They were watching a drug bust go down with the AOS with their guns out - how scary is that and the school was not locked down.

*   LOL at the texter that asked if buskers pay tax? Next time you give a busker money make sure you tax them! Hahaha. Look at that I gave you three ha's, I might tax that 3rd one?

*   Our internet problems were solved with a new modem, apparently you are lucky if they last more than two years. EL

*   I'm 61 and probably need more preservatives but I won't be buying Goodman Fielder long life bread!

*   Sell Civic square to Australians. They need our help! Let's have another great shopping centre close to the CBD. It is just what we need!

*   Re park charges HDC: I am disgusted the council want to gain any revenue from the schools or teams that want to exercise. We should be supporting them 100 per cent. Add the extra $1 or 2 to our rates, a bit more isn't going to break us now. What happened to "push play"?

*   I agree, Minister for Children - all children. We all own this huge problem. Unite NZ this is one right we must win.
