Rugby World Cup

*   Napier $2 Shop has All Black car flags.

*   What a doofus looking cap they gave Ritchie McCaw.

*   Wasn't the haka on Saturday night fantastic. Proud to be a New Zealander. As for the coloured boots - sure make those Kiwis fly.

*   Wyn Drabble - get a life! Coloured boots are just an expression of individuality - should the ABs wear black mouthguards and all tennis players wear white?

*   Drabble mocks our anthem and boots he just can't hack! So why not give them both the boot. As long as they are black!

*   I would have thought that the English rugby team could wear whatever colour they liked. They invented the game! JW

*   To the person who thinks we own the colour black. Did you see Tonga in white? Each country has two strips. Get a life and don't be petty.

*   Rugby World Cup: Whether football or rugby world cups always revolve around the success of a fan's own team, but as in the past fans love to support the underdog when they play well like Wales against South Africa or in Ireland's case with a win over a higher ranked or more favoured opposition! Just listen to the crowds cheer. Let's forget about the hype, watch and listen to the pride in the national anthems and watch 80 minutes of exciting sport and remember it is just sport . MP

*   On a scale of 1 to 10 let's give Steve Hansen 1 per cent and Graeme Henry 2 for enthusiasm after the ABs did the job for them. We salute you guys, go the mighty ABs.

*   Would be nice to know who is in the choir for the local RWC game.

*   Loving this World Cup fever! Reignier School has even painted encouragement to the All Blacks on its building! Love seeing it as I drive past each morning.

*   Hours before RWC game I was sad to see selfish people hogging spaces where two cars could fit. Drive off in another and return after the game.

*   Maori TV advertises Rugby World Cup all 48 games televised with them. Not even.

Other thoughts

 *   Re drug syndicate: 2 years / 5 year for importing pseudo. What happened to being tough. Good Tui ad.

*   These words used by all people in power "we have learned from this and we must ensure it never happens again". It always does. Does it not? WCE

*   Congratulations Lyn at Farmers Napier. Your service is outstanding. Hope your boss is noticing.

*   I felt annoyed at all the donated money spent on the penguin, so decided to see what positive came out of this. Hasn't it been a great education for our kids! My kids have loved watching Happy's progress...even if nature may have taken its course! AW

*   I notice most health supplements all make the same claims. This product may help you or sometimes they could help. May or could means they are not making false claims. Clever but they are not fooling me anymore.

*   Shame on the council for the ugly plastic 'thing' that marred our lovely marine parade. What will our tourists think! Sue

*   Warmest thanks to Tracey of HDC rates rebate department Monday am. Efficient and kindly to this old person. JM

*   Re change of NZ flag: I agree with a need for change but I truly believe in keeping the current flag the same to keep respect for our past and for the many men and women who have fought for this country on the battlefield and through sport. I believe the addition of the Silver Fern would define NZ's flag as the silver fern has been proudly displayed by many of our sporting teams. MP

*   Re the texter wanting us to become the third largest city in NZ: We are two small towns and never the twain shall meet. Get over it!

*   Congratulations Hastings. Best Blossom Parade I've seen in years. But please, please ask future entrants to say who they are front and back. So many this year and so much confusion! B

*   Get yourself a whistle and blow it down the phone when those scumbags ring you about your computer. Works a treat.

*   Talk about pay parity, nurses working for Maori health providers have been fighting for this for years.

*   Thank you to the person who stole my plants out of my garden in Konini St. I'll be watching you.

*   Truck drivers have radar detectors, or most of them do, installed behind the grill. Been there and done that. Most good detectors pick up from a kilometre away.

*   Custard squares the best are at Havelock Bakery. Try them 'boo hoo' you won't be disappointed.

*   In the UK I have seen cellphone towers made to look like trees. From a short distance you wouldn't know the difference. Never know, might already be one in your backyard!
