McDonald's

*   We have lived in Havelock for over 10 years and are disgusted re the McDonald's prejudice against allowing it to go ahead. Wake up and think of the jobs it creates. By the way we are in our early 80s.

*   I live in Havelock and think a McDonald's would be great, as well as another supermarket. Competition is good. I'm not sure how the voting is done for people's choice, I must have missed out on the McDonald's one.

*   McDonald's was supposed to come to Waipukurau. Sections purchased, houses moved, one site cleared and we are still waiting. What's happening?

*   Havelock North ain't prejudice against fast food they are prejudice against bad health.

*   Good on you Havelock. Don't have McDonald's there, look what it did to Taradale. Rubbish everywhere, especially around skateboard bowl and yes there are plenty of rubbish bins but it's easier to drop rubbish on ground.

*   Come on Havelock people get your heads out of the clouds. Stop being a bunch of snobs thinking you are better than everyone else. McDonald's would be an asset. Employment for youth. Obviously underage drinking is OK but fast food is not. Get real.

*   Havelock ruled by dictators? Why no McDonald's?

*   So Hastings' affluent suburb doesn't want a McDonald's as it doesn't fit the image. Do they want more rowdy sports bars? That better fits the image the rest of us have of Havelock North.

*   Don't mind McDonald's in Havelock, but could the location be somewhere other than a dangerous roundabout?

*   To Pip West: Brilliant letter. Absolutely spot on so all you snobs get over yourselves and welcome McDonald's.

*   Well said Pip West. Bring on McDonald's and show the pompous business association. Tutu.

*   Congratulations to Pip West on her letter re McDonald's. Why do some residents of Havelock think they are better than everyone else?

*   Good letter last night Pip West. Just look at what McDonald's Taradale building adds to our little town - a beauty.

Pukeko

*   Petrol vouchers for pukeko: Three so far this week and only Wednesday. Where do l collect?

*   Text re pukekos most offensive Shirley. Wonder how you would feel if roles were reversed. Heartless. woman.

Other thoughts

*   School Board of Trustees and Department of Education: Spare a thought for working parents when schools close at midday in the middle of the week. Why not Friday at 3pm?

*   Can anyone shed any light on the 'duck zebra crossing' just north of the airport? What exactly are the lines for? JHW

*   Petrol in Brisbane over a $1 a litre cheaper than in NZ. Hope you clowns that didn't vote are happy. It's going to get worse.

*   1 million people didn't vote because 80 per cent were under 18. FMJ

*   To the person who would rather drink and drive than get a taxi: If you injure or kill one of my family through your brainless decision, then you are fair game.

*   Have NZ Post considered just holding mail for an extra day or so if people short of postage on cards or letters? It would cost time and more money to return to sender?

*   To knockers of Black Caps remember the size of NZ. We always box above our weight.

*   You go John Bridgeman. Someone has got to do something with the erosion. Shame on you HDC. How long are you going to let this go on for. Haumoana resident

*   Attention Hastings drivers: Stop putting your right indicator on when going straight through a roundabout! EJW
