*    We recently had my daughter's second birthday party at Cornwall Park. It was an enjoyable day until a group of welt-to-do people turned up with their children and boxes of beer. I thought drinking in public places was against the law. Shame on those people.

*    You have done it again St Vincent's. Thanks for your beautiful Christmas window. Congratulations.

*    To whoever organised Mayfair Kindergarten reunion, shame on you. Heaps of parents and founders knew nothing about it. A lot of us held bottle and paper drives to build the kindy.

*    Boredom poor excuse for crime.

*    To DR who got ticket: Come along Karamu Rd by lights and Frederick St/ Grove Rd cars always parked half on grass and footpath. Cops too busy screaming through lights. Big accident one day.

*    Nice new, top of the line, architecturally designed, taxpayer-owned Hastings court house. What a shame the front door is on Queen St where the public must view the participants.

*    Agree with R Johnson about amalgamation re Tremain. I voted National but not Tremain on that issue. Also agree with Sutton on night classes and that's a first!

*    A labourer started at engineering company. He is getting $10k for tools given to him by work and income! No need to pay back! He does not need any for his job. What's that about?

*    What sector of society is having abortions? Those stats should be available and education and help directed in those areas.

*    I would much rather my daughter be 'scared' by the plastic foetus than handing her a box of cheap contraception.

*    To Martin Cheer, chief executive, Pub Charity: The pokies are an evil form of gambling, totally different from Lotto and the TAB. With pokies it's so easy to part with your rent money and if you want to win your money back you could put your bill money in and hope for the best. Whatever happened to the phasing out of them? There are new ones being played now. Get rid of them.

*    We go on cruises and have never stayed in any port more than half day on any trip world-wide. The pleasure is boat first, port second and very little money spent in port. R&N;

*    TV broadcasters: Stop placing cooking and food preparation programmes in evening viewing slots.

*    We are thinking of the country. That is why we are knocking John Key.

*    To the person who text in saying all the people knocking John Key should stop thinking about ourselves and think of our country: We are thinking of our country. We are thinking we don't want it sold to the highest bidder or mined to death, and we don't want the gap between the rich and the poor to grow as fast as it is. It will continue to do so under his Government.

*    What price is the working man going to pay for National gaining power from two MPs that should not be there. WCE

*    Surprise, surprise. So there was no mention of Charter schools before the election. You ain't seen nothing yet.

*    Re beer bottles being left on the footpaths. The idiots walking in our street throw their empties over our fence.

*    What's up with Taradale clock? Chimes haven't been right for months. Miss them, they are a good timekeeper. MT

*    Re windows damaged in Havelock North. Perhaps some of the locals and retailers can join the Community Patrol and see what goes on at night. PC.

*    To the guy who has been collecting our rubbish in Maraenui for the past year, Merry Xmas to you. You do a great job. I have something for you and your family. Have a good new year also.

*    What does the Black Caps batting lineup have? Clue - Doug Bracewell bowled a few of them, one cost Clarke's early wicket.

*    To the organisers and entrants of the IronMaori: A big congratulations from a Puketitiri Rd, Puketapu resident. The marshalls were well organised and the cyclists extremely considerate. Well done. Maybe other cycle clubs could learn something from you. DA

*    Re Taradale loos: Do you expect cleaners to be there 24/7? Culprit could've gone in 5 minutes after cleaner. We all should leave them as we found them.

*    Thank you very much to the people at the hydraulics department of Suvic Napier, very helpful folks.

*    North-bound right turn at Westshore is common sense, and still some people can't get it right. Don't see as much educating going on as people are still failing to stop at stop sign.

*    Hey, anyone out there know how I can unlock my FB on my phone. Read all instructions but no luck. PJ.

*    Great, put the cost of using sports fields up. Lawrence Yule trying to force people away from sport and on to bikes to stay fit to justify his stupid cycle lanes. What is Hastings Council on?

*    Typical of HDC and NCC for not bothering about Xmas parades. Obvious why NCC isn't bothering. It's not Art Deco but what is excuse for Hastings? Feel sorry for all the kids. It's all PC bull. Mr and Mrs Grinch you are both poor excuses for leaders of our communities.
