Phonebook

*   Perhaps ripping a phonebook is not quite the feat it once was?

*   New phonebook: Who can read it? Waiting for magnifying glass - thanks Telecom you are truly amazing.

*   What's up with new phonebooks? Too small to read for half blind people. Council must be on a budget. Kl

*   What's with the mini HB phonebook? More cost cutting. Need a magnifying glass to read it. Oh well at least they delivered us one this year.

*   New phonebook: What a waste even with glasses it's hard to read. JF

*   Is Telecom going to provide glasses so we can read the new phonebook? Or maybe they have shares in magnifying glasses. JN

*   I'm not a complainer usually but to those who deemed it an improvement to make the new phonebook smaller, what were you thinking?

*   Got new phonebook but no magnifying glass with it.

*   What where they thinking with the size of writing in the new phonebook? I hope they send out magnifying glasses with it - bloody ridiculous.

Guy Fawkes

*   Another night of terror for most animals. Ban Guy Fawkes. Not relevant now. NK

*   My dog loves fire works but the cats not too thrilled about them, me-ow!

*   Guy Fawkes and others were protesting against the persecution of the church by a government that put church leaders to death. He gave his life for the faith and Christians burn an effigy of him - ignorance is bliss.

Other thoughts

*   The district goes as far as Waipatiki to as far as CHB, that's why HDC is in debt. Get over it - amalgamation is the future. Jay Kay

*   Thank you Mike Butler. What did I tell you people. Amalgamation will bring higher rates. Perhaps even higher to lighten the load of Hastings debt.

*   Mitre 10 will become an indoor cycle center, Warehouse will become indoor cart racing/mini moto sports and Farmers will become an indoor iceskating place. Sorted.

*   If thousands of people are leaving the country then why is unemployment increasing? Those of you who don't like the NZ Flag remember, this flag has been NZ's flag for flaming years so stop your muck raking or leave the country if you don't like it. B Tait, Wairoa

*   To the people who think the UK and its public don't care about NZ: Why then do so many come here on holiday? Also why do so many from here go and visit and stay in the UK? Some people think changing a flag will make all things right in NZ. Think again.

*   Corporate greed has ensured a lack of resources to service the potential 7 billion world population.

*   Re cellphone towers. So texter would like one in her backyard that looks like a rocket. Oh how cute - never mind about the cancer then.

*   So when we get the flash Art Deco buses will they have to use the bus stop in town or is that only for the rate payers, the elderly and the students?

*   Re Brian Bulford and the French accepting the challenge - couldn't agree more. C'mon IRB, the world is not black and white.

*   Re cyclists. To the person that told us that cyclists make them move into oncoming traffic, try to do what you were told when sitting your driver's licence - pass when it is safe. Do not blame cyclists for your bad driving skills. MA

*   Re cyclist: You may not realise the danger and stress that a stock truck and trailer driver or vehicle towing a boat downhill on blind corners with oncoming vehicles on a narrow road is under. It is like suicide for both parties or do you cyclist think you are bullet proof? Eg road to Ocean Beach past Te Mata Peak.

*   Thank you Shaun at Dick Smith Hastings. Without fail everytime I shop there you give amazing service. Thank you - it makes shopping there a pleasure. KM

*   If you ask me I think Coro St should be viewed on Sunday mornings. I was 10 yrs old when it started, now I am 57. Enough is enough. Time to move on aye viewers. CWT

*   Wow Tightlines gardens are looking so good in Onekawa. Keep it up
